National Foundation Partners with Local Las Vegas Business, RC Willey, to Name Two Grade School Kids in the Clark County School District (CCSD) as Winners and Recipients of Two Beautiful New Desks in Honor of their Efforts Towards Reaching their Future Goals – Presentation of Desks Wednesday, December 19th at Becker Middle School
Las Vegas, NV – December 19, 2018 – The Young Dreamers Foundation, a Nationally-recognized organization created to inspire kids of all ages to set goals while providing tools to help them navigate through life’s ups and downs with positivity and perseverance, today announces that it will be presenting two middle school students with Z-Line Designs Cyrus Workstations, donated by RC Willey in Las Vegas. In early October, Young Dreamers foundation honored Respect Week 2018 by hosting presentations and all-school rallies, inspiring thousands of kids at Becker Middle School, Sawyer Middle School, and Stuckey Elementary in Las Vegas and leaving a great and lasting impression on each one of the students.
“We understand school kids should be studying important subjects such as English, Math, Social Studies, Science, and more, however, what we aim to do is fill the gaps for kids by volunteering our time to schools in order to offer free programs that will help their students become well-adjusted to life and learn skills to help them hone their emotional intelligence,” said CEO and Founder of the Young Dreamers Foundation, Nicole Rodrigues. “We’re especially dedicated to kids throughout California and Las Vegas, where we have offices, and are committed to becoming a positive light in these communities. The Las Vegas students we met during Respect Week 2018 really impressed us, even more so with their positive essays about how their skills will help them advance in life. We’re thankful for them and our friends at RC Willey, who made Respect Week and the remainder of 2018 memorable.”
During CCSD’s annual Respect Week, the Young Dreamers foundation visited the three schools and met with more than 3,000 students and faculty members. Following the school visits, the Foundation offered a voluntary opportunity to students in the schools to share a 500-word essay about what their best natural skills are and how they plan to use them in their future and announced it would be awarding desks to the two students whose essays were the most thought out, thoughtful, and inspiring. Dozens of kids across all schools wrote heartwarming, and creative essays. Two lucky winners were chosen from the 5th and 6th grade group, as well as the 7th and 8th grade group.
The essays that stood out the most belonged to Chanel Koh (8th grade, Becker Middle School) and Caleb Loquillano (6th grade, Becker Middle School). Chanel emphasized her attention to detail, active listening and organizational skills and ability to control her emotions and how she will use those traits to become successful and to also help others reach their goals in the future. Caleb highlighted his ability to solve Rubik’s cubes and explains how this talent improves his patience, sharpens his brain, makes him a better problem solver and planner and helps his social skills by making friends and those skills are preparing him for adulthood.
“The entire school and our Becker family are extremely proud of Chanel and Caleb, and all the students who participated and were motivated to do so,” said Amy Herring Smith, Principal at Becker Middle School. “It was an absolute pleasure having Nicole Rodrigues and her team host assemblies for the students during Respect Week. I truly enjoy meeting and speaking with others who are as passionate about our youth and their future as I am. At Becker, we pride ourselves in providing a challenging learning environment that empowers students to reach their full academic potential, so it was the perfect exercise after the assemblies. Thank you so much to Nicole, the Young Dreamers Foundation, and RC Willey for leaving a lasting impression on our kids!”
Nicole Rodrigues and Young Dreamers will be presenting Chanel Koh and Caleb Loquillano the workstations at Ernest Becker Middle School.
